What is The JBL & Martin Garrix Music Academy?
Running their first edition last year, JBL and Martin Garrix teamed up to create the dream environment for fresh musicians to develop both their craft and their industry knowledge. With workshops covering everything from business and branding to music production, last year’s edition was launched with the aim “to empower talent with the knowledge they need to turn their passion for music into a career.”
What Can Applicants Expect From This Second Edition?
With the intention to build on the success of last year, Garrix has noted the Academy’s goals are well aligned with those of his label STMPD RCRDS. Both seek to find new, exciting artists and, while Garrix hasn’t explicitly said as much, it would come as no surprise if the Academy proved a successful source of talent for the label.
On a far less speculative note, successful applicants can expect a three-day program that will focus on valuable skills they’ll need in order to progress in the modern music scene. The event will take place in Amsterdam’s STMPD Studios in November 2024.
It will also represent an excellent opportunity for a lucky handful of fresh talents to meet and get to know one another. After all, networking is another valuable skill that any successful artist will need. Perhaps this 2024 class could represent the next generation of world-class DJs? If so then getting to know one another now could prove useful in the long run.
