The Ultimate Queer Street Festival
Before we discuss everything we know about this year’s event, let’s review some background information.
Northalsted Market Days has been a tradition in Chicago for decades since local traders first decided to set up the festival as a showcase of businesses in the Lakeview/Boystown neighborhood. One of America’s first officially recognized gay villages, Boystown has always been a haven for Queer culture, and, as such, Northalsted Days quickly became a place where local Queer artists could connect with audie
Over the years, the popularity of market days has only grown but the focus on local people, local business, and local art has always remained. From the amazing food and drink, to the dance, the drag shows, and the sheer atmosphere of the event, Market Days are an annual celebration of everything that makes Northalsted an incredible hub for LGBTQ+ culture.
