Swedish-based DJ and producer Herman Olwik, stopped by the Nexus Lounge Amsterdam during ADE for a brief interview. Olwik was on serious business during his first ADE visit. He was there to meet with Asian booking agencies in light of his huge demand in the Chinese market.
“I’m here to meet with a lot of booking agencies, primarily in China. I started deejaying in China recently, played a festival in Chengdu. I also booked to play in Guangdong, (and I’m) so very much looking forward to that and trying to get as many gigs as possible in China. My music has been performing quite well over there. A lot of my earlier music that wasn’t so popular in Europe or in Sweden where I’m from, however it’s really popular in China”

Although Olwik hasn’t truly broken out in America or Europe yet, he’s at least caught the attention of one notable figure in the dance music galaxy, Jeff Zeller, CEO of Dancing Astronaut and AZ Management Agency. Zeller will be instrumental in elevating Olwik’s profile in the United States and Europe.
“I’ve been covered by them (Dancing Astronaut) quite a lot during my career and recently I signed with AZ Management where Jeff, my manager is actually the CEO of Dancing Astronaut, so I got (lucky) because Dancing Astronaut loves me”

One person that Olwik really loves is Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, he says that Science, particularly Astrophysics and Space has helped inspire his music creations.
“I’m into Science actually. I have a big interest in Science and going to Mars seems like a Science thing. I would probably really like Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist. Probably most people in the music industry don’t know about this guy. But there’s a really famous Scientist called Neil deGrasse Tyson and I love him. I love science, and it’s a kind of a spiritual thing for me. Also in my creations, like when I make music. It’s really something that gets me inspired like science in general, primarily astrophysics and space.”
