DJ SANiTY, a dynamic creator known for his electrifying blend of house and hip-hop. As a born-and-bred Queens native, SANiTY’s journey is as captivating as the eclectic beats he champions. SANiTY sat down with Nexus Radio during the Nexus Lounge Miami edition for an afternoon that unfolded like a finely tuned setlist.

Rooted in a multicultural upbringing, SANiTY’s creative vision is deeply shaped by his father’s influence—a “Bria freed artist from the seventies.” Immersed in a world of art and music, he naturally gravitated towards crafting unique sounds. “My main introduction into production, making music, was…taking hip hop and flipping it into house remixes of edits,” he shared with palpable enthusiasm.

As the conversation flowed, SANiTY revealed his current exploration of genres beyond the hip-hop edits that launched his career. He spoke fondly of his deep connections to reggae dancehall and reggaeton, dreaming of new music that inspires movement and cultural nostalgia. “I love music that makes you dance and whine … like skipping school to go to a hooky party,” SANiTY reflected, reminiscing about house parties that fueled his passion.

The synergy of New York City’s cultural melting pot profoundly influences SANiTY’s work, a blend echoed in his collaborations with artists like Bad Bunny, the enigmatic wrestling musician, “He’s so forward-thinking,” SANiTY marveled. “With Latin music, he’s a fashionista too. Bad Bunny would be fun to travel with.”

In revealing his aspirations, SANiTY spoke earnestly about leaving a legacy “to help with, like, mental health in the music industry” through his new streetwear brand, “All SANiTY Is Lost.” Merging cool aesthetics with a positive social mission, the brand seeks to bring awareness and support to mental health challenges faced by countless artists.

Sitting in Miami, SANiTY and Xio mused over musical legacies and the power of creativity. For SANiTY, it’s not just about the beats but also about “becoming more of a songwriter than a producer,” finding new ways to create outside the confines of digital screens.

Before closing the interview, SANiTY hinted at exciting new projects, including a collaborative remix with Dwayne Wonder. Listen to the full interview below.
