Miami Music Week is the perfect time to discover new talent. Urbano, the brother/sister duo of Marisa and John, made their Miami Music Week debut with a buzz worthy performance at the 418 Release party.
We met them just a few days before at the Nexus Radio Lounge and asked for an impromptu preview of “Are You.” Marisa sang the chorus live and blew us away. With just her raw voice (no effects or filters,) she sounded amazing and captured the attention of everyone in the room (and the people on the street walking by.) Marisa has the vocal power of Meghan Trainor with a touch of the honeyed sweetness of Tinashe.
The duo write all their music together. For “Are You,” John wrote the verses and Marisa wrote the hook. With a strong set of remixes by Kue, Alex, Bro Code and Stonebridge, the dance pop confection is flying up the club chart.
