DIPHA BARUS

Born and raised in Indonesia, Dipha Barus is a DJ and producer best known for single “All Good,” which boasts tens of millions of streams across listening platforms. 

His latest projects include “Flower” (featuring American singer Jackie Castro) and “Tidak Ada Salji di Sini, Pt. 7,” both of which were released earlier this year. 

Dipha Barus has been in the industry for over a decade. He first began growing an audience as an artist as a member of electronic dance group Agrikulture in the late 2000s. As a solo artist, his breakthrough came in 2016 when his single “No One Can Stop Us” (featuring Indonesian singer Kallula) became a huge hit. 

His music started reaching all corners of the world when in 2019 he signed with Ultra Records. He released his first international track, “You Move Me,” with Ultra that same year.

Q: Before we dig in, what’s next for you? (current or future projects)

I just released my new single ‘Flower’ with Jackie Castro and now we’re preparing to launch the Official Music Video sometime in early April. It doesn’t stop there though, we will be releasing the club version shortly after that – stay tuned!

Q: What advice do you have for someone looking into getting into electronic music?

Always have an open mind and heart to all possibilities in music, period. There are so many interesting sounds and things to dig into – inspiration comes in all forms. And above all, seek something that you love and reverberates with you.

Q: What is the last song you listened to?

I wanna be where you are – Michael Jackson

Q: What/when has your favorite performance been?

Oh man this is a hard one, but I have to say that WE THE FEST 2019 has to be up there… that’s when we released our first single with ULTRA Records, definitely one for the books!

Q: What type of musician would you prefer to collaborate with?

Collaborations with like-minded musicians who share similar ideas that are vibing on a reciprocal frequency.

Q: If you could bring one artist back to life, who would it be? (Why that artist?)

David Bowie! I grew up listening to him and his music has inspired me a lot.

Q: Which fictional character is the most interesting to you?

Clancy Gilroy from the Midnight Gospel

Q: What ridiculous thing has someone tricked you into doing or believing? Or What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?

The most interesting thing that I read this week is a book called “Untethered Soul” by Michael Alan Singer… it’s a book about the journey beyond ourselves! Its about growing and glowing as a human.

Q: 10. What’s the first trip you're going to take once the world reopens?

Hopefully doing a world tour for my upcoming album ‘Humankind’
