Troye Sivan is the new darling of the public. According to Time Magazine, he was one of the “25 Most Influential Teens of 2014”. The South Africa-born Australian Troye Sivan is an actor, singer, songwriter and YouTuber. As of Feb 28, he has close to 4 million subscribers and over 236 million views!! Versatile, as he is, achieving so much at 20 years of age is simply staggering.
Speaking to Billboard on the Pop Shop Podcast, the same week he released the video for ‘Youth’, Sivan candidly spoke on his life on the road during his current tour, performing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and his hopes of collaborating with other artists.
Sivan is currently on tour, with dates scheduled through May 20, 2016. Speaking about his stops in the US on his present tour, he exclaims “I always talk about this, but I don’t think anyone really understands. Coming from Australia, America to me was always this crazy place of hopes and dreams, and famous people, and music, and everything was so much bigger here. And to feel like something I’m doing is succeeding here is a very very very crazy concept to me. It kind of makes everything feel a little more amplified.”
Also in the interview, he mentions his dream of collaborating with Taylor Swift (who has earlier endorsed Sivan) and would love to be a “best friend” of Lorde. “I really really really want to write with Taylor Swift. I’m sure that everyone would say that, but for me… as a student of pop music, I feel like I have so much that I could learn from her. Her and Max Martin. I would just want to sit in that room and watch them do what they do, and hopefully help a little. I’ve sent it (wishes) into the universe so many times. Honestly. I’m waiting for the day that Lorde hears an interview of me gushing about her and decides to hit me up and become my best friend. Or Taylor Swift. But none of the above have happened.”
