The summer of 2014 was dominated by “that flute record,” referring of course to “Bullit” by French producer Watermat. Aside from his superior production skills, what makes him so special is his willingness to explore new sounds and collaborate with producers that you wouldn’t expect. Would you imagine pairing the lush melodic Watermat with techy badboy Moguai or experimental glitchy mastermind Tai? The results, “Moguai” and “All My Love,” showcased some of the best and most creative collaborations of recent memory. Yes, Watermat doesn’t release a lot of music, but when he does, they are worth wait the wait.
