A new reality dating series inspired by EDM culture and the free-spirited “wook” subculture is preparing to bring festival life to the small screen. Set in Denver, Wooking For Love has officially opened casting for its first season, inviting self-described “wooks seeking love, connection, and their forever festival partner” to take part in a 12-episode journey centered on music, community, and unconventional romance.
Created by Denver-based tattoo artist LaRue Allegretto, the series draws heavily from Colorado’s thriving electronic-music scene. According to the show’s website, 16 contestants will live together on a shared ranch—described as a Colorado take on the villa concept popularized by Love Island—while navigating emotional connections through festival-inspired challenges and communal living.
Rather than cocktail parties and candlelit dinners, Wooking For Love leans into the chaos and creativity of festival culture. Reportedly inspired by Colorado’s EDM circuit and challenges include car-camping endurance tests, flow-art choreography, hula-hooping sessions, and even stagehand scrambles—activities meant to mirror the behind-the-scenes realities of festival life.
The show’s inclusive casting approach reflects the openness often found in dance-music communities. Wooking For Love is open to contestants of all identities, sexual orientations, and relationship styles, emphasizing emotional authenticity over traditional dating-show tropes. Allegretto acknowledges that the word “wook” itself carries mixed connotations, but says the show embraces its broadest, most human definition.
“Some people definitely use it derogatorily and some people use it endearingly,” Allegretto explained in an interview with The Denver Post. “We’re looking at the broadest definition of ‘wook’—that festival culture is central to your life. You work, you play, you live in the music and the community, and ultimately what you’re seeking is richness of connection and experience.”
That tone carries through the show’s creative vision. Described as “playful, cinematic, and deeply human,” the series aims to resonate with the same audience that fills Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Nova Studios, and Colorado’s late-night renegade parties. The humor, according to the creators, is intentionally self-aware—laughing with the culture rather than at it.
Interest in the concept appears strong. Allegretto has confirmed that more than 675 people have already applied, signaling a clear appetite for reality TV that reflects EDM culture without sanitizing it. The show is currently slated to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
