Michael Canitrot has built his reputation around electronic music experiences with a sense of scale. Now, the French DJ and producer brings that ambition to Purified Records with “Diamond,” a collaboration with classically trained mezzo-soprano, songwriter and producer Yana Mann. Scheduled for release on November 6, the single marks Canitrot’s debut on the imprint.
Blending orchestral influences, cinematic textures and driving electronic rhythms, “Diamond” brings together two complementary musical perspectives. Canitrot’s melodic production provides the foundation, while Mann’s vocals introduce an expressive dimension that connects her classical background with the energy of contemporary electronic music. The result is a track built around both emotional atmosphere and dancefloor momentum.
For Canitrot, finding that balance was central to the collaboration. “The track began with a powerful energy, but I wanted to bring in an emotional dimension to balance it,” he explains. Turning to Mann was a natural decision, drawing on a creative relationship that already extends beyond the studio.
The pair previously shared the stage during Canitrot’s Eiffel Tower performance, an example of how their respective musical worlds can meet in an extraordinary setting. Mann’s experience across classical and contemporary music complements Canitrot’s interest in combining electronic production with theatrical presentation, giving their latest collaboration a foundation in an established artistic connection.
Beneath its expansive sound, “Diamond” carries a personal message. Canitrot describes the track as an exploration of the light people carry within themselves and the confidence they sometimes need to rediscover before moving forward. That idea gives the release an emotional focus, connecting its uplifting energy with a theme of self-belief and renewal.
The single had already developed a connection with audiences before its announcement. Supported as an unidentified track in Nora En Pure’s sets around the world over recent months, “Diamond” generated anticipation before Canitrot revealed it during his appearance at Purified’s sold-out Amsterdam Dance Event showcase. The performance introduced his musical vision to the label’s community while finally putting a name to the sought-after ID.
That sense of anticipation fits an artist whose work often turns a performance into a larger cultural occasion. As the creator of the Monumental Tour, Canitrot brings electronic music, architecture and lighting together at historic locations. His projects have included the Eiffel Tower, the reopening celebrations of Notre-Dame de Paris and Liberty Lights at the Statue of Liberty, carrying his music into settings far beyond the conventional club stage.
The artwork for “Diamond” brings the focus to a different kind of landmark. Photographed by Romania-based photographer Adi Albulescu at Iceland’s Diamond Beach, the image captures intricate formations of ice against black sand. Its connection to the title is immediate, while the contrast between the delicate ice and volcanic coastline echoes the meeting of sensitivity and strength at the heart of the collaboration.
The imagery also reflects Purified’s appreciation for the natural world. Accompanying the release is an invitation to explore Only One and learn more about supporting ocean and climate protection, linking the beauty of the artwork to the preservation of coastal environments.
With “Diamond,” Canitrot and Mann bring their shared creative language to a new label audience. Combining a commanding electronic foundation with an expressive vocal presence, the release carries the ambition of Canitrot’s landmark performances into a collaboration centered on human emotion.
