David Guetta "Scared" for Upcoming Album

David Guetta recently had an interview with Wall Street Journal where he talked about his 6th upcoming album and the expectation he has to overcome from his last album “Nothing But The Beat” which received a Grammy nomination and over 4 million copies sold.

“Honestly, I’m a little bit scared. It’s completely different from anything I’ve done before.”

Guetta saying his new music is something different can mean anything. But, with knowledge of one of the songs on the album being the recent hit collaboration with Avicii titled “Lovers On The Sun (ft. Sam Martin)”, we can only speculate that it’s on the right track. The song already has 26 million hits on YouTube and stands No. 1 in UK. Guetta stated in his interview:

“I just wanted to push myself to the max, and then play it to others. I know I can make beats that make people dance, so now the challenge is to create the best possible music and songs that are timeless.”

One of the biggest “issues” in EDM was brought up by Diplo and how EDM is starting to all sound the same. Diplo expressed that to be successful in this industry, you have to find your own sound. Avicii, Skrillex and Hardwell are all really good examples on understanding how they all do in fact have their own specific sound. Guetta has an ear for harmonies and emotional music and he applies it to his tracks. I think Guetta is under promising this upcoming album and will be over delivering it.

“What’s becoming the new big thing commercially now is deep house, which was the most underground thing three years ago,” Guetta said, smiling. “I was a DJ even before house music. To this generation, that feels impossible.”
