Steve Angello Grows Up for “Remember”

1401x788-3CgxDWQ4aVoAysmqlrleZNWHR6X2B2_4zW2bsonBDgQSteve Angello has released a new music video to accompany his song “Remember” featuring The Presets.

The video begins with three boys laying on the forest floor smoking an invisible jay and talking. They wander around, tossing leaves and getting into whatever absent-minded fun is allowed them. They eventually come upon a body of water with a fire floating in the middle. One boy wades towards the flame which extinguishes the moment he reaches for it. He turns to see his friends have gone and left him to navigate the foggy woods on his own. He comes upon a hatch that shuts as soon as he lowers himself to the bottom. He wanders over to an abandoned piano. As it begins to play the piano ignites, and the camera pans out to show instead of a child, a full-grown Angello.

Interpretation is up to the viewer. By representing himself as the child, could the video and the song be a reference to Angello’s failed threesome of childhood friends, Swedish House Mafia? The part of the song where the lyrics moan “Now you’re all alone,” seem to imply so. The chilly, fall-coated forest helps set the mood for the melancholy song. The video walks us through that anticipatory itch you got as a child that told you everything was changing and carries that bittersweet promise of growing up and the pain that comes with it.

Angello has done well for himself despite his super group split. Wild Youth will be his first studio album since the break-up and includes “Remember” and “Prisoner” among it’s track listing. His record label, Size Records, has been growing for 10+ years and is looking to start delving into other genres in the near future.
