Coldplay has released their latest studio album, A Head Full of Dreams.
Dreamy and psychedelic, this album is an upbeat variation to the morose Chris Martin we’d been hearing from. Coldplay has returned to the hopeful, snyth-pop of albums past, but this time with a twist. The sappy sadness of Ghost Ships is long since past and the break-up wounds have healed enough for ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow to contribute her vocals to the track, “Everglow.”
Paltrow, thankfully, is not the only name to join the band on this album. Sia, Tove Lo, and the Queen B herself, Beyonce also make guest appearances. The LP shares producers with both Rihanna and Beyonce, which lends a sultry, soulful feature to the sound. The album is an experimental jump from their usual sound, mixing R&B and EDM with their alternative take on Pop music.
If you’re a fan this album will not disappoint. Besides, you should probably get it anyways, because the way Martin is talking, this may be their last.
Below is a clip of the band performing the above mentioned “Everglow” off of their new album.
