Kylie Minogue and her fiancée Joshua Sasse have taken a stand and will not tie the knot until same-sex marriage is legalized in Australia. The couple got engaged this past Christmas.
“I wanted to tell you today on her behalf and our behalf that until this law has passed in Australia, we will not be getting married,” Joshua Sasse stated.
“When I found out that gay marriage was illegal in Australia, I was astounded. I simply can’t fathom on any level, whether it’s moral or religious or anything, that I have the right to get married and to marry the person I love and that somebody else doesn’t because of their sexual orientation.”
Kylie Minogue, has previously said how “backward” Australia is on the issue of same-sex marriage saying “the earth didn’t cave in” in other countries where it is legal and that “love is love”.
The Australia government announced plans to introduce legislation and cast a vote in February of 2017. Just like America, the debate on marriage is contested with many law makers calling it a “waste of money and time.”
