2016 has been a big year for Hotel Garuda – the EDM duo comprising of DJ’s Manila Killa and Candle Weather. After gaining considerable attention for their remix work, the duo released their debut single “Smoke Signals” during the first half of the year, followed by the remix of Kaskade and Felix Cartal’s “Fakin It” over the summer. In line with their energetic remixes, the duo released “Fixed On You” in collaboration with Swedish pop band ‘Violet Days’, earlier this year in October.

“Fixed On You” opens with some icy piano notes before offbeat chords and light percussion followed by rapid vocal hools from Violet Days. After a short build-up, the single moves into a deep house drop, sampled melodies and energetic house beats.

Speaking on how the single originated, Manila Killa said “That song came about really randomly. One day I sketched out an idea on a bus ride on the way to New York. That same day we were sent a vocal by our label, PRMD. Aseem (Candle Weather) put my sketch and the vocals together. They were in the same key and it worked really well. So within the next week we had the song structure and we had the song fleshed out. From there we worked out the details. The song came about really randomly and it worked really well too”.

With the release of “Fixed On You,” the guys are building serious momentum in taking over the electric dance music scene.
