Gareth Emery has announced that, after 10 years and 430 episodes, his radio show Electric For Life will finally come to an end. The English DJ started his pioneering show in 2006, but now believes there are so many quality offerings on the market that his talents would be better directed towards a new challenge, namely an eight-episode TV show that has already been green-lit by an unknown network.

Emery thanked his fans on Instagram “for all the love, support, feedback, and even criticism over the last ten years” while also expressing excitement about the new challenges ahead. Electric For Life has always been known for its charity work, donating $28,000 USD to a number of causes across the continent including: Greater Vancouver Foodbank Society, Rian Fernandez Education Fund, and the Spark of Love Toy Drive. Additionally, Emery himself once denounced a list of “Top 50 DJs” in DJ Mag after learning about the obscene marketing budget being used to promote the artists. He took his own allotted marketing budget and donated it to charity while asking his fans to boycott the list and show their support in other ways. While it remains to be seen whether this new show will share the same path of generosity, it seems a fair bet that the 36-year-old’s kind heart will find a way to make a meaningful impact.

Considering the wave of DJ and pop-artist support for Electric For Life over the years, it also wouldn’t be surprising for some of the industry’s biggest names to make an appearance. No matter the names involved though, everyone will be waiting with bated breath until the first episode drops.
