It is every artist’s dream of their single debuting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. But it must be doubly sweet for Zayn Malik, for his single ‘Pillowtalk’ has blasted its way to #1 on the chart on his debut single!!! Wicked!

As reported by Billboard, “Pillowtalk” also opens atop the Digital Songs and Streaming Songs charts, with 267,000 first-week U.S. downloads sold and 22.3 million U.S. streams in the week ending Feb 4, according to Nielson Music. It is pretty much #1 on every chart actually, including the U.K.

Zayn took to Twitter to thank his fans for helping him take the #1 spot.

‘Pillowtalk’ is Zayn Malik’s first solo release since he departed from One Direction last May. Despite One Direction’s unprecedented worldwide success, it was one accomplishment they have never achieved; debuting at #1 on the Hot 100 chart. Even though Zayn’s gone in another direction and done something 1D was never able to as a group, we’re sure Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall are all happy for his success.

Not all boy band singers gone solo, reach heights previously established when there were part of their respective bands. But some like Micheal Jackson (Jackson 5), Justin Timberlake (N Sync), Ronan Keating (Boyzone) have carved a niche for themselves going solo.

Zayn Malik has just caught that train. And from the unprecedented success of his first single ‘Pillowtalk’, there seems to be no stopping him.
