In what can only be regarded as a truly titanic team-up, trance giant Armin van Buuren and Grammy-winning Dutch producer Fernando Garibay have exceeded all expectations and then some. Last Friday (6th Jan), the two titans released a collaboration with vocalist Olaf Blackwood “I Need You”, through van Buuren’s Armada Music label.
Fernando Garibay, known for his numerous US #1 tracks, has worked with the likes of U2, Shakira, Britney Spears, Kylie Minoque, Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg and Enrique Iglesias. Now he has together with the trance giant Buuren to bring the beautiful single.
‘I Need You’ shows van Buuren’s softer side, possessing the deep rooted sense of emotion. The single initiates with subtle piano riffs complimented by vocals from Olaf Blackwood and leads to lively chorus in no time. The collaboration of the two artists brings forth a poetic and passionate single, more inspiring and uplifting than earnest, with its tropical undertones – and easily one of the most noteworthy collaborations in a while.
Of the collaboration, Buuren had this to say –
“It’s been truly inspiring to work with Fernando Garibay and Olaf Blackwood and to come up with something so musically adventurous. I am very proud of the result and can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks of ‘I Need You’.”
An equally inspiring music video is in the works and will be released a week from now. The music video, which was shot in L.A., adds to the magic of the song by way of its striking images and humorous take on the superstar lifestyle.
