As the legendary Winter Music Conference edges nearer, the nominations for the International Dance Music Awards (IDMAs) have been released and once again feature some of the industry’s biggest DJ powerhouses.
Armin Van Buuren has been nominated fourteen times, including two for best trance track (Embrace, Stardust), best compilation and best global DJ. Joining him in many of those categories is Hardwell, who also features in best urban dance track for Follow Me, a collaboration with Jason Derulo. Hardwell has 12 nominations overall. Other multiple nominees include Skrillex, Above & Beyond and Diplo.
The awards, which have now been going 31 years and are the most established of the global dance award industry, will be held in Miami, smack bang in the middle of the WMC. This allows many of the nominees to be available for the ceremony and keeps it high up in the list of accolades for DJs and producers. Previous winners include Daft Punk, Tiësto and Avicii.
Also up for an award this year is Dave Aude, who recently popped in for an interview with Nexus Radio. The Grammy nominated artist is up for Best Remixer in the IDMAs, which is his second nomination in the category. He previously lost to Afrojack a few years ago and this time faces tough competition from Skrillex and Maceo Plex among others.
Whilst Aude is looking to score his first ever IDMA, Van Buuren will be looking to add to his collection of over twenty awards. His best year was in 2014, where he picked up eight awards on the night. Despite his dominance, he still praised his fans on twitter. “Thank you ❤! So many nominations for the #IDMAs for @Armada, our artists, @asot & myself! Let’s make it happen!”.
