For those unfamiliar with the viral phenomenon known as the “ALS Ice Bucket Challenge” that has taken the social-media realm by storm, here’s a brief explanation.

“The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one’s head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and encourage donations to research.”

The way it works is that those nominated for the icy-cold challenge must either complete (and film) it within 24 hours, or forfeit by way of donation to the cause. Unsurprisingly, since the inception of the challenge, countless numbers of celebrities have been nominated, one of whom just happened to be the king of trance, Armin van Buuren. Lucky for us, Armin joined dozens of other celebrities and went ahead with the challenge while also choosing to donate €5000 to the cause.
