Avril Lavigne has tried to make her first EDM song but has raised racial controversy instead. The pop star who wrote songs about skating, boyfriends and other parts of life drama has now written a song about the icon “Hello Kitty”. Some say that the song is a disgrace and the music video which features Lavigne in a cupcake tutu surrounded by expressionless Asian girls is way close to racist.

As for the EDM aspect of the song, it isn’t the best of them all but Lavigne has a lot to work on. She does need a bit of credit in that field. She is trying something new but her songs have a lot of stride to go before it can be considered good EDM. Perhaps next time the video will be a little less racist as well.
