Festivals and gigs are constantly being announced and canceled because of the COVID-19 crisis. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for music fans worldwide. Unfortunately, no festival has escaped the chaos, including the iconic Las Vegas Electric Daisy Carnival.
Las Vegas EDC is the biggest dance music festival in North America. It is the flagship festival of an impressive roster of dance music festivals around the world. EDC was first held between 1991 and 1993 before having several years off. The festival came back in 1997 under the management of Insomniac Events, which has run the festival annually ever since. EDC is a festival of monumental size. Since becoming a three-day event, it has been attended by 400,000 dancers each year.
Its 2021 return was announced for May, but it swiftly had to be canceled. The light at the end of the Coronavirus tunnel is approaching, and EDC’s 2nd return is looking far more likely. With 50% of the US population fully vaccinated against COVID-19, an outbreak resulting from EDC is very unlikely.
EDC will attempt to return from October 22nd to 24th. It features a stacked lineup with unprecedented variety. Deadmau5 will get the dance festival crowd bouncing, while tropical house legend Kygo will take us all to the beach. In addition, the Chainsmokers will bring their euphoric sing-along hits to the Nevada desert, contrasting beautifully to the chilled future bass of Alison Wonderland. Meanwhile, the pure dance-pop of Louis the Child will get the packed dance floors moving. Whatever your tastes are, these chart-topping sensations are sure to get your blood pumping again.
With lineups like this, it is no surprise that EDC constantly achieves greatness. This dance festival is always an unforgettable event, and it has been awarded to prove this. From 2010 to 2020, they had incredible success at the International Dance Music Awards. EDC won six nominations for Best Music Event and two nominations for Best Festival. The dance festival has had even more success at the Electronic Music Awards. In 2017, EDC won Festival of the Year outright. The other dance festivals will be intense competition for EDC as they all attempt to pull off a grand return. Insomniac Events will have to create an even better festival this year if they want to continue their award-winning success.
The event will be held just 15 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The Las Vegas Motor Speedway has always hosted EDC and is the ideal location. The iconic race circuit was constructed in 1972. As you walk on the circuit, you will practically be able to feel its history through your feet. It has held many of the world’s most significant racing events and countless music festivals.
Despite always having an incredible lineup, EDC is not only about the music. The dance festival organizers are always looking to combine the music with the visual to connect with their audience. This year’s EDC is no different. They have again collaborated with some of the most exciting artists in the world to create fantastic art installations for you to explore.
As the world emerges from the coronavirus, it is looking to party. And EDC has a solid claim to be the party that reawakens the planet. In October 2021, this award-winning dance festival is ready to make its mark once more.
