After Breaking Hearts, Calvin Harris Tops Singles Chart

While most of the spotlight on Calvin Harris has been on his personal life in recent days, the professional aspect of his life is going strength to strength. The Scottish DJ’s recent single featuring Rihanna, ‘This Is What You Came For‘ has reached top 10 positions on music charts across the world, including topping the charts in Australia, Ireland and Scotland.

The catchy house-influenced track, which was released earlier this year, as Gil Kaufman puts it, is “a chilled-out, joyful club track that nods to classic Chicago house from the late 1980s and early 1990s, but with a modern, poppier flavor.” The song marks the pair’s third collaboration, following the global chart-topper “We Found Love” and the Billboard top-five single “Where Have You Been”, which are both featured on Rihanna’s sixth studio album ‘Talk That Talk’ (2011).

Late May, Calvin Harris was injured in a car crash in Los Angeles, on his way to the airport for a Las Vegas performance. While he has recovered since, his recent tweet announcing his breakup from long-time girlfriend pop diva Taylor Swift became headline news, breaking hearts of both his and Taylor Swift fans.

Since the breakup, Taylor Swift retweeted Calvin Harris’ tweet, which indicates that she too agrees with her ex’s assessment of the situation totally. Calvin Harris has since performed for shows in Las Vegas over this weekend.

Fans of Harris will hope he puts his breakup woes behind and release more of his thumping music in the future, what with news of his collaboration with Ellie Goulding, slated for release this year. We will keep our eyes and ears peeled for any further news on the collab and keep you posted.
