Calvin Harris Named “Artist of the Year”

calvin-harris-750x400Calvin Harris was named the American Music Awards “EDM Artist of the Year” for 2015.

Harris beat out nominees David Guetta and Zedd for the impressive title. After losing out to Martin Garrix for the European Music Award’s “EDM Artist of the Year”, it left us wondering when the veteran would get his acknowledgement for this year. He’s come a long way since his 2007 debut album I Created Disco and it’s been exciting to see the Scottish DJ blow up over the years. Whether you like him or not, his name  has become ubiquitous in the genre, and everything he’s released since 2010s “You Used to Hold Me” has been gold. He’s been one of the highest-paid DJs for the last three years according to Forbes and has established his own label, Fly Eye Records. His music may or may not be your cup of tea, but his hustle and talent have earned him the spot as a top contender in this scene.

Harris was not the only EDM artist to take home an AMA. Diplo and Skrillex also received an award for “Best Collaboration” thanks to their Jack U hit, “Where Are You Now?”
