Coco and Breezy: Extremely Stylish Afro-Latina Twins Conquer the Fashion and Music Scene

When it comes to Coco and Breezy, the word “cool” comes to mind instantly. They are the fiercely glamorous twins behind their versatile eyewear brand, producers, and DJs. C&B delved into redefining the face of dance music and what it means to be a technically skilled Afro-Latina female DJ and producer. But how did they do it all while running a profitable business?

Simple: grit and perseverance.

Corianna and Brianna Dotson, also known as Coco and Breezy, had always felt like outsiders when they were young. The twin sisters were often questioned about their hair, clothing, and culture. So instead of trying to blend in, Coco and Breezy chose extravagant outfits with matching eyewear adorned with studs and sparkles, and that’s where their eyewear business began.

Unsurprisingly, music would play a role in their lives as well.

Coco and Breezy’s lives have constantly been enriched by music. Their Puerto Rican mother would play the congas at family gatherings as others joined in with whatever instruments they could find, the percussion highlighting their celebrations. Their parents listened to R&B, blues, and other types of music, and the sisters grew up dancing to it all. Music was simply something they gravitated to in both good and challenging times.

And just recently, the twins released “Just Say,” which is about summertime and the feel-good vibe that comes with it. “We just wanted people to feel good. I think that the melody, the feeling, the chords, everything has that emotion that drives everyone from different backgrounds to love and feel the song the way we feel it.”

Whether it’s coming up with new song ideas while making sunglasses, Breezy says each of their entrepreneurial endeavors attempts to enhance their culture and communities of color.

Success stories are always fascinating, so if you want to know more about Coco and Breezy, listen to the full interview below!
