The Russian pop-act known for their mid-2000’s “All The Things She Said” will perform at Friday’s opening ceremony at the Sochi Olympics.

According to the reports, Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova will sing their biggest international hit, “Not Gonna Get Us.” During the performance of the track, the Russian Olympic squad is to enter the ceremony, at Fisht Olympic Stadium.

The group is famous for girl-on-girl live performances and their lyric talk of love between women.    The duo made a career of pretending to be lesbians and even their Russian version of the name means “this girl loves that girl”.

So whats the confusing part? last year, the Russian government passed a law prohibiting the practice of “gay propaganda” against minors, a piece of legislation that has been widely condemned.   While many head of states chose not to attend the games, ultimately no country refused to attend on principle. Recently, major companies such as Budweiser, AT&T and Google stepped up and expressed their displeasure with the Russian government. Is this Russia’s way of trying play nice?
