At the Nexus Lounge ADE Edition, we sat down with Ed Rubbey, a rising star in the EDM scene. With a rich history of capturing EDM audiences worldwide, Ed shared his excitement about attending the Amsterdam Dance Event for the third consecutive year. Describing his agenda as “super fine,” he expressed enthusiasm about performing at multiple clubs and networking with artists and promoters.
A fixture among aspiring and established DJs, the Amsterdam Dance Event provides a vibrant atmosphere filled with endless opportunities. On the busy schedule, Ed said, “You have to arrive organized… there are many events at the same time. You must choose which one you should go for and which event you prefer.” The week promises performances, interviews, masterclasses, and the chance for new collaborations.
Looking back, Ed fondly recounted last year’s memorable experience when he watched Martin Garrix perform a spectacular set at the RAI. This year seems no different, given his hectic schedule of performances and teaching sessions. His passion for exploring new genres is evident in his creative process, as he continues experimenting with Tech House, Slap House, and more. He acknowledges the dynamic nature of the music industry but remains true to his passion: “I keep focused on what I love to do.”
“For now, I’m doing the majority of the songs independently. When I produce, I think to make my listeners happy and enjoy the vocals,” Ed elaborated, showcasing his dedication to evolving his musical repertoire while staying in tune with his audience’s expectations.
Ed Rubbey is not only an artist with a sharp sense of music trends but also one forged by life's inspiring stories. His motivation is clear: to create art that resonates emotionally and tells a story. Encouraging creativity, he stated, "If there is a chance to do another song that is another genre, why not? It's good to experiment."
For those eager to witness Ed’s journey and upcoming music ventures, he mentioned, “I’m focusing next year on getting many releases, as well as independent or some labels.”
