The International Dance Music Awards are officially returning to the Winter Music Conference in 2026, reuniting two of electronic music’s most historic institutions during Miami Music Week. The long-running awards program will reveal this year’s winners during a special Bridges For Music x IDMA reception scheduled for Thursday, March 26, bringing artists and industry leaders together to celebrate the global dance music community.
Originally launched in 1985 alongside the early years of the Winter Music Conference, the IDMAs were among the first international awards dedicated exclusively to dance and electronic music. Over the past four decades, the awards have honored the artists, producers, labels, festivals, clubs, and media platforms that have helped shape the evolution of electronic music culture worldwide. The 2026 edition represents both a symbolic homecoming and a renewed commitment to recognizing excellence across the full spectrum of the electronic music ecosystem.
This year’s awards program includes a wide range of categories designed to recognize both artistic achievement and industry influence. Major honors include Artist of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best Album, Best Song (Dance), Best Song (Electronic), Best Remix, Best Label, Best Festival/Event, Best Club, Best Event Series, Best Radio Show/Podcast, and Best Music Media Resource. Together, these categories highlight the artists and organizations that continue to push electronic music forward on a global scale.
The nominees for Artist of the Year include standout names such as Chris Lake, Fred again.., John Summit, Mau P, and Sara Landry. Meanwhile, the Breakthrough Artist of the Year category highlights emerging talents including Chloé Caillet, KETTAMA, and KI/KI.
In the Best Album category, nominees include releases from major electronic music figures such as Charlotte de Witte, Chris Lake, Ninajirachi, Sammy Virji, and Skrillex. The Best Song categories feature collaborations and singles from artists including Anyma, Ellie Goulding, Amelie Lens, Four Tet, and Soulwax.
Genre-focused artist categories further highlight the diversity of today’s electronic music landscape, recognizing leading performers across Dance, Techno, House, Melodic House & Techno, Progressive House, Tech House, Afro House, Trance, Bass, and Drum & Bass. Nominees span established global icons such as Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, and Excision, alongside newer stars pushing the genre forward.
Nominees were selected through a comprehensive research and evaluation process conducted by the IDMA team in collaboration with the newly established IDMA Advisory Board. The process included analysis of leading electronic music publications and industry media, streaming and chart performance data, major festival lineups, touring activity, and other recognized indicators of cultural and commercial impact within the global dance music ecosystem. Advisory Board members were also invited to submit write-in nominations to ensure the final ballot reflects both measurable success and expert industry insight.
Final winners will be determined by the IDMA Advisory Board, a group of respected professionals from across the electronic music industry including managers, agents, promoters, and label executives. This peer-driven voting structure reinforces the credibility of the awards, ensuring that honorees are selected by individuals actively shaping the business and culture of dance music.
The winners will be announced during the Bridges For Music x IDMA reception at Winter Music Conference on March 26. The event will bring together artists, nominees, and industry leaders for an evening celebrating innovation and excellence within the global electronic music community.
