John Legend To Croon National Anthem At The NBA Finals

Grammy-winning singer John Legend will perform the national anthem for the NBA Finals on Thursday Night (June 2).

The NBA says John Legend will kick off the finals that will air live Thursday on ABC (9 p.m. Eastern) from the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, where the Cavs, led by hometown LeBron James, will take on the Golden State Warriors.

John Legend has so far won 10 Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and the special Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Most recently, he won his first Oscar, Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Award for his song “Glory,” which he wrote and performed with Common for the film “Selma.” Legend also lined up a personal win after his wife, Chrissy Teigen, gave birth to their first child, a baby girl named Luna Simone Stephens in April.
