Dutch DJ and music producer, Nicky Romero of the viral hit “Toulouse” fame, is no doubt one of the most famous and biggest names in the electronic music business, for his long-established progressive house sound. And when Romero states he is trying something new, it is time for everyone in the electronic music fraternity to sit up and take notice.
The Dutch heavyweight has massive plans for 2016. The ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘Harmony’ star has tried something new at the start of this new year. Together with the Chic guitarist of yesteryear, the legendary American Nile Rodgers, he has produced a new track aptly called ‘Future Funk’. This gem of a collaboration between the two artists, marks the second chapter of Nicky Romero’s special Trilogy series (the first part was ‘Lighthouse). The disco influence of Nile Rodgers combines harmoniously with the typical Nicky Romero progressive house sound; a perfect blend of funked-out guitar riffs and lush beats laid on top of striking vocals, that brings Nicky’s production genius to the forefront.
For a music producer with the reputation of a Nicky Romero, it is pretty brave to go away from his usual style of producing music and produce a track as different as this. However, the results speak for themselves.
Nicky Romero has brought something new to the genre yet again. And this will definitely not be his last.
