As if Zayn’s departure wasn’t enough for One Direction fans, People magazine has broken the news that Louis Tomlinson is going to be a dad.

The twenty-three-year-old boy band member is reportedly expecting a baby with “very, very close friend”  Briana Jungwirth. Jungwirth, also twenty-three, is a stylist and resides in Los Angeles.

People‘s source says that the news was a “surprise,” but that “Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad.”

The two apparently began seeing each other as very, very close friends shortly after Tomlinson’s break-up with Eleanor Calder earlier this year.

While there are many details about how happy the pair is, the due date and One Direction’s fate are yet unknown.

We’ll just have to wait with baited breath and, in the meantime, ponder whether this means we should stop referring to One Direction as a “boy band” and rather as a “man band.” (Surely fatherhood qualifies one as a man?)
