Sam Smith And Ellie Goulding Fooled Us All

Remember all those times that Sam Smith said he definitely wasn’t doing the theme for the next James Bond installment? Remember when he said he thought Ellie Goulding had gotten the gig, and then she tweeted “Live and let die”? Well, it was all an elaborate ruse because Sam Smith has just officially been confirmed as the voice of Spectre with his song, “Writing’s On The Wall.”

In further news, as Your EDM reports, the song is actually a collaboration with Disclosure. They took to Twitter shortly after to announce their involvement:

Ellie Goulding didn’t really know why Smith chose to use her as a red herring, but she decided to have fun with it, according to ABC News Radio. She told Billboard: “I don’t know why he said that. I’m happy for him. I root very much for other British artists. It’s a really special time for us. I had quite a lot of fun people thinking it was me, but I was never the one who started the rumor.”

“Writing’s On The Wall” will be released on September 25th, but we’ll have to wait until November 6th for Spectre. Ellie Goulding is also planning to release a new album in November, so it’s certainly going to be an interesting month.
