Speedway Champion Tai Woffinden Races to the Top of the Music Scene

THE 10 Qs SERIES

Tai Woffinden is a British speedway rider who has carved out a place in history as one of the most accomplished and dynamic riders of his generation. Known for his grit, skill, and ability to perform under immense pressure, Woffinden has become a three-time FIM Speedway World Champion and a global ambassador for the sport, thrilling fans across Europe. However, beyond the roar of the engines and the smell of burning rubber, there’s another side to this sports legend—his love for music.

Tai’s dive into the world of electronic music kicked off in January 2023 after catching a live set from Fisher in Perth during his speedway tour in November 2022. His love for electronic beats runs deep, sparked by time spent in underground clubs across Australia and Europe in his younger days. In between racing for world championship titles, Tai has been making the most of his off-track moments in the studio or spinning decks at various events. Earlier this year, he dropped his debut single, “Intergalactic,” on his label, followed by the track “PUMP IT.” With four new releases on the German label CHAPTER 8 and a string of upcoming DJ gigs, Tai’s music journey is definitely shifting into high gear.

Balancing a career in Speedway and a budding music venture hasn’t been easy, but Woffinden thrives on challenge. Just as he does on the track, he brings discipline and a relentless work ethic to his music. When asked how music impacts his life, Tai said, “Like most people, I always listen to music. I have used it many times to get amped up before a race, but on the flip side, I can also use it to relax at home with my family.”

In the near future, fans of Woffinden’s racing career may also become fans of his music as he looks to release more tracks. As Tai Woffinden continues to rule the speedway circuit and make waves in the music scene, he’s proving that champions aren’t confined to a single pursuit—they can excel in multiple arenas. His journey is an inspiration, showing that with passion and determination, you can thrive in whatever field you choose.

Q: Before we dig in, what's next for you?

Right now, I’m still racing professionally in the Speedway World Championships, doing both the Polish league and the British league so that is keeping me super busy.  I have three more tracks locked in and looking to be busy on the decks in my off-season where I spend most of the time in Australia. I plan to return to Aus straight after Amsterdam Dance Event.

Q: Tell us about a memorable moment from one of your live performances.

I enjoyed jumping on straight after MR.BLACK while I was in Croatia at the Forestland Festival. The energy was great and I think about 12,000 people turned up, the bigger the crowd the more fun I found it and that’s the same as my racing. For example, Warsaw Polish GP has 55,000 attendees every year and I just seem to thrive in the high-pressure situations.

Q: How does music impact your life?

Like most people, I always listen to music. I have used it many times to get amped up before a race but on the flip-side can also use it to relax at home with my family. When my youngest daughter was a baby, she would only fall asleep while listening to a bit of country, Luke Combs to be specific.

Q: What's the most embarrassing song on your playlist?

Haha, good question!  I would not say it’s embarrassing, but maybe a bit cheesy. The other week I hosted a British GP after-party in the UK and mid-set I played Sweet Caroline, the Timmy Trumpet, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike edit. But I would only play that at a UK event as it’s a crowd fave.

Q: What's the most ridiculous music video you've ever seen?

Basement Jaxx – Where’s Your Head At!

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

I’m a sorbet kinda guy, lemon is always my choice.

Q: If you could solve one global problem overnight, what would it be?

Plastic pollution in the oceans.

Q: If you had a time machine and could visit any historical period, where and when would you go?

Think I would go and see how the pyramids were made. Aliens must have done it. I have been down way too many YouTube holes about the pyramids haha!

Q: What movies have inspired you?

To be honest, movies don’t inspire me I just enjoy watching them. I’m a professional athlete I’m inspired by high achievements.

Q: Describe your most bizarre life experience thus far

I think this would have to be my father passing away. Bizarre because I never thought it would happen but then so many other emotions came about. That day I went from a boy to a man with the click of my fingers.
