Before the stages at Parc del Fòrum light up and the crowds descend, another version of Primavera Sound takes shape across town—and it’s one that the wider music industry can’t afford to miss. Primavera Pro, now in its 17th edition, returns from June 3 to 5 at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), running concurrently with the festival itself and cementing Barcelona’s status as a genuine global hub for music industry thinking.
What Is Primavera Pro?
Launched in 2010, Primavera Pro has grown into one of the most respected music industry conferences in Europe, and arguably the world. Last year’s edition welcomed over 3,200 professionals from 68 countries. Unlike many industry gatherings, Pro benefits enormously from its proximity to one of the world’s great festivals: the conversations happening in the conference rooms at the CCCB are directly informed by what’s happening on the stages a few kilometres away.
What's on the 2026 Agenda?
The 2026 programme is built around some of the most pressing questions facing the music industry right now. Central to this year’s discussions is the African music boom and how the industry’s relationship with global sounds continues to evolve. We’re particularly excited to check out one key session, “All Eyes on Africa: How Mavin Records is Defining the New Global Standard,” featuring Rima Tahini, VP of A&R at the Lagos-based label.
Rights management in the age of AI takes up significant space on the agenda too, with panels covering publishing, synchronisation, and catalogue management—all areas where the arrival of generative AI has raised urgent and unresolved questions. Speakers are drawn from companies including Sony Music Publishing, AEG Presents, Domino Music, and True Panther.
The Showcase Programme
Beyond the conference sessions, Primavera Pro hosts a free, open-access showcase programme at the CCCB’s Pati de les Dones, featuring over twenty international and Catalan emerging artists as part of the wider Primavera a la Ciutat strand. This year, the lineup has been developed in collaboration with Perfectly Imperfect, Remezcla, and The Line of Best Fit, each of which has co-programmed an act—a new initiative that underscores Pro’s ambition to serve as a genuine bridge between the industry and the wider music media ecosystem.
Why It Matters
Primavera Pro’s value lies in its timing and its location. Happening in the same city, in the same week, as one of the most culturally significant festivals on the calendar means that the conversations rarely stay abstract. The artists being discussed in the morning panels are often performing that same evening across town—and that overlap gives the whole event a sense of urgency that few industry conferences can match.
If you’re making the trip to Barcelona for the festival, it’s well worth carving out a few hours for the conference side of things. The future of the music industry is being actively debated here—and for once, the venue is genuinely worth showing up for.
Primavera Pro 2026 runs June 3–5 at the CCCB, Barcelona. Professional accreditation is available at primaverasound.com.
