The energy was palpable as Lennart, better known by his stage name Lemas, joined us at the Nexus Lounge ADE Edition. A talented musician and “Level Award” winner, Lemas is carving his path through the electronic music scene with a distinct blend of passion, talent, and a knack for captivating sounds.
A student at the prestigious Abbey Road Music Institute in the Netherlands, Lemas recently achieved a major milestone by winning top honors in a renowned music competition. When asked how he felt about this achievement, Lemas’s gratitude shone through: “I’m super happy for the award. It’s such a big thing to me and means a lot.”
The interview took place against the vibrant backdrop of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), where Lemas shared his enthusiasm for attending legendary DJ Mike Williams’ show. “I’m super excited for that because I love his music,” he said, his excitement contagious. The conversation turned to a mutual admiration for artist Brooks, with Manny confessing, “I just learned about Brooks.” Lemas chimed in, “I learned a lot from him. I watched a few masterclasses from him, and they’re very good.”
Lemas also opened up about his latest project—a future bounce track crafted over several intense weeks. The song has already garnered positive feedback at his school, and he described his creative process with precision: “Mostly, it’s progressive house or future bounce, and this time it was future bounce… I try to produce it so it would sound good on a big stage.”
As for the track's next steps, Lemas has ambitious plans. “I’ll send it to a few DJs and people that will play it. Then, I’ll move on to send it to labels and try to get it signed,” he said, a determined glimmer in his eye hinting at his drive to succeed.
During the lighter “Take Five” segment, Lemas revealed his playful side, admitting, “I’ve never done karaoke, so… I’m terrible at lyrics,” laughing off his focus on instrumental music. On the topic of TV shows, he expressed a love for Yellowstone while reminiscing about classics like Suits and Breaking Bad.
Reflecting on his time at Abbey Road Music Institute, Lemas spoke passionately about the importance of collaboration and feedback in shaping his artistry: “Being surrounded by other creative people like yourself is good for you… It’s collaboration, learning from other people, it’s very good.” For him, honest appraisal from experts was a turning point, fueling his artistic growth.
With his raw talent, a strong support system, and an exciting future ahead, Lemas is undeniably poised for success. Want to hear more about Lemas’s journey and insights? Don’t miss the full version of this inspiring interview—tune in below!
