From MTV to Armada : Take 5 with Davis Mallory

From MTV to Armada : Take 5 with Davis Mallory

If you think Davis Mallory’s face looks familiar, it is. That’s because Davis Mallory starred in the MTV reality show The Real World: Denver. Mallory is now back in the spotlight and he’s ready to show us his musical chops. Davis has a new track called “Loud” and it was picked up on  Cedric Gervais’ imprint Delecta Records which is distributed by Armada.

Davis left no stone unturned during this installment of Take 5. He didn’t just spill the Tea, he threw pot out the window too! Here’s everything you need to know about Davis.

Q. Tell us everything about your latest project?

LOUD is my debut EP which comes out on April 25th 2017. The lead single Under Your Spell is a song that I wrote with a producer named KELLR. He is a pop-electronic producer from Nashville.

Under Your Spell is a song about how people can change your world when you fall in love. The EP is an eight song project that includes two remixes of the track “LOUD.” One of remixes was done by the talented Landis.

The other remix was done by BPT, an LA based producer whose manager worked with Skrillex for eight years.

LOUD (the song) is a song about hooking up, I wrote it with pop artist Mitchell Rose. The original version was produced by Nashville duo Ricca Vita & J. Hanna.

“Ocean Blue” is a tropical house track that embodies the great lengths that one would go for love. This track was produced by Brazilian duo Paulo Ventura & RDR.

“Be Without You” is a song that features singer Bridget Caldwell and it is produced by Philly-based EDM producer Sean Myers and Nashville’s Michael Frasinelli. This is a sadder song about a personal break up that I went through, the production is reminiscent of Florence & the Machine.

“Distance” is a song I wrote with Bay Brooks from The Voice (Team Blake Shelton) – it is the most stripped down song on the project by far. It’s basically just me and a guitar. I’m working on a remix for this song right now for it.

“Anyone Would Know” is a love song I wrote when I lived in New York City. It was inspired by an ex. This song was released last Valentine’s Day and it caught the attention of John Dahlback.

John (Dahlback) made a new version of it which is way different than the original but in a totally awesome way! it’s going on as a bonus track.

Q. What is your favorite cocktail?

I love red wine, a good microbrew – I usually go for Hefeweizen or IPAs. When it comes to cocktails I like tequila based drinks, margaritas or mojitos.

Q: Who is your celebrity Musician/DJ crush?

I think Diplo is really sexy. He’s got a really sexy voice and really cool style. I follow him on Snapchat and think he’s a cool guy all around.

Q: Who would you kiss, marry or vote off the Island?  Your choices are: Adam Lambert, Olly Alexander ( from Years & Years), and Armin Van Buuren.

Marry Armin Van Buuren because I would want him to produce for me for the rest of my life!

I would kiss Adam Lambert since he is actually gay and very handsome.

I would vote Olly Alexander off the island since I’ve never actually never seen a photo of him until right now….. and he’s not too bad looking at all actually (sorry Olly).

Q: If you had a time machine, which decade would you go back to? (and why)

I would like to have been part of the Disco era. The 80’s and the 90’s were cool eras for music, but I really like the simplicity, the beauty, and the feel-good energy of Disco music. I would have loved to have been part of that decade.

Q: Boxers, Briefs or Commando?
Briefs, but I sleep commando.
