Get ready, because the first episode of Tiesto’s “Your Shot,” a 10 episode reality web series to find the next top DJ, launched yesterday on Vevo.
The premise: Tiesto, along with a team of other DJs and EDM professionals, will instruct 30 lucky contestants as they compete for the grand prize of opening for the man himself at Hakkasan in Las Vegas, as well as a slot playing 7UP’s Stage 7 at the 2016 Ultra Music Festival in Miami, according to Rolling Stone.
Tiesto told Billboard: “For me it was amazing to see all the people that would literally drop everything and rearrange their lives for this opportunity.” Among these people is a paratrooper named Mike, for whom music was an escape from the constant fears of being under attack.
Though some feel the series is trite (Harder Blogger Faster states that the “cringeworthy” premise is”pretty much a carbon copy of the Pop Idol/X-Factor”), we all know that that has never stopped anybody and if there is real talent involved, it will win out.
