Eric Prydz and Knife Party’s Swire Collaborate

ERIC-PRYDZ

I always take note when legends collaborate, especially two whose styles are as different as Knife Party’s Rob Swire and Eric Prydz.

Rob Swire originally started out in Drum and Bass band Pendulum, only to branch off with fellow bandmate, Gareth McGrillen, to start Knife Party. Their diverse, intense style of dubstep and scraping house has made Knife Party one of the best recent electronic duo’s of the last 5 years.

Prydz also known as Pryda and Cirez D, is a Swedish DJ and Producer. You recognize him from “Call On Me” fame which was released back in 2004. He was launched into notoriety, beginning a successful career across the globe. The song topped multiple record charts and the music video inspired dozens of remakes for everything from comedy to raising awareness.

This collaboration is a trance-ballad called “Breathe”. Originally released on Apple’s Beats1 radio station, it was then shared on Twitter by Beatport, incorrectly under the name, “Curveball”. The synth-heavy track is slower than what you’d expect from the two. It’s energetic, progressive, and soothing.

Keep in mind that this track is not Knife Party. Swire provides the vocals, something he hasn’t done since being featured on Deadmau5’s “Ghosts N Stuff” in 2009. Both parties have other projects, including Knife Party’s new EP, Trigger Warning, which was announced on Twitter earlier in the year.
