Snapshots of Success: A Conversation With Arleigh From Alivia Gray Studios

This week, we at Nexus Radio were lucky enough to be joined by Arleigh from Alivia Gray studios in Chicago for a fascinating conversation about the life of a professional photographer.
Arleigh is the self-styled ‘girl behind the camera’ of Alivia Gray Studios, a Chicago-based photography studio specializing in Wedding Photos. For Arleigh, life is about capturing incredible camera moments, reading Harry Potter books, and spending quality time with her family.

Of course, none of that happens overnight, and it’s taken a lot of hard work to get where she is today. But, if there’s one thing she’s sure to stress when talking about her work, it’s the incredible support her husband has given her along the way.

“The best professional advice? I get a lot of it from my husband. You know, he’s always cheered me on, but I think the one thing he’s always telling me is to get out of your head, get out of your way… He’s my biggest fan.”

In recent years, she’s been shifting focus towards themed events. Recently, she organized a Harry Potter themed photo-shoot in Elgin, Illinois, and following up; she says she’s working on something with a Casa Blanca style.
Of course, here at Nexus Radio, we’re all about the music, and we just had to ask her what kind of music she’s into. As it turns out, she’s into all sorts of things, from Nashville Country to the contemporary pop music of artists like Teddy Swims.

“I was born and raised in Michigan,” says Arleigh, “so I had the best of both worlds… Growing up, I was into Billy Ray Cyrus and stuff like that, but now it’s kind of switched for me. I’m huge into Zach Brown Band… Carrie Underwood, I love, and Blake Sheldon, of course, is always a favorite of mine.”

If that’s not an eclectic list, then we don’t know what is!  Outside of photography, she says her biggest hidden talent is the ability to fold laundry at record speed.

“I am amazing at being able to fold laundry in the heat of the moment. So, when the husband’s about ready to come back through the door, I can sit down and blow out laundry in probably two minutes.”

It just shows that if you want to find success in life, then it’s good to develop a wide range of skills.
