Cher may soon be returning to the spotlight in a whole new way. According to The Sun’s Bizarre column, the pop legend is reportedly close to signing a major deal with Netflix for a seven-episode docuseries chronicling her extraordinary life and six-decade career. The working title, Sharing Her Story, nods to the superstar’s unmatched cultural impact and her reputation as one of pop’s most enduring icons.
If the reports are accurate, the 79-year-old singer and actress would dive deeper than ever before into the personal and professional moments that shaped her. The proposed docuseries would cover her marriages to Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman, the meteoric rise of Sonny & Cher, her reinventions across music, film, and fashion, and the highs and lows that defined each decade of her career. Sources suggest Cher will speak candidly on camera in ways she hasn’t in past interviews, offering fans unprecedented insight into her artistry and her private world.
The series is being lined up for a 2026 debut, reportedly to coincide with the long-awaited second installment of her memoir. The first volume, Cher: The Memoir, focused heavily on her partnership with Sonny Bono — whom she married in 1964 and divorced in 1975 — and became a bestseller for its unfiltered, emotional storytelling.
According to insiders cited by The Sun, the Netflix agreement is “as good as done.” However, as is typical with early-stage entertainment reports, Netflix has not yet confirmed the project.
If finalized, Sharing Her Story would mark one of the most significant documentary undertakings of Cher’s career, giving fans a deeper look at the woman behind the sequins, the anthems, and the legacy that continues to shape pop culture.
