Top 100 Flashback: 2022

We’re a week away from releasing our annual Top 100 list, where we’ll look back at the best tracks of the last 12 months by the world’s biggest producers and DJs. It’s our little way of remembering this year’s many highs and recognizing the talent that continues contributing to today’s diverse electronic scene.

But, before we do, we’re taking a walk down memory lane with a final flashback to last year’s Top 100 list. We covered 2020, and 2021, and now we’re ready to dive into the tracks that made 2022 what it was.

5. Dom Dolla - Strangers ft. Mansionair (Radio Edit)

Listless and mesmerizing, Dom Dolla’s “Strangers” featuring Australian indie rock trio Mansionair was fifth on our 2022 list. Featuring the soothing vocals of Mansionair frontman Jack Froggatt, the track blends together progressive house and techno elements, offering some incredible builds and memorable moments. It’s the sort of track that is as suited for the dance floor as it is for more intimate settings, remaining one of the highlights of Dom Dolla’s many releases over the last few years.

4. John Summit - Human ft. Echoes

First previewed in sets worldwide before receiving a broad release in late 2021, John Summit’s “Human” has been lauded as one of the best of the American producer’s career. Featuring Echoes on vocals and leaning heavily into the signature tech house John has come to be known for, including an incredible rolling bassline, “Human” is just as intoxicating today as it was upon release.

3. tyDi x Electric Polar Bears - You Never Know ft. Neverwaves

At No.3 on our 2022 Top 100 list was “You Never Know”, the future house collaboration between Australian producer tyDi and American duo Electric Polar Bears. Featuring slick vocals from Neverwaves, the track became a favorite for dance floors everywhere due to its catchy hook and classic dance sound.

2. Purple Disco Machine - Dopamine ft. Eyelar

Taking the dance world by storm in 2022, Purple Disco Machine’s “Dopamine” featuring Eyelar was the disco-infused progressive house track we didn’t know we needed. Last year was generally great for German producer Purple Disco Machine, whose Exotica and follow-up Club Exotica received significant play throughout 2022. With its clean and referential production, “Dopamine” is one of the highlights of this period.

1. MEDUZA - Tell It To My Heart ft. Hozier

Topping our 2022 Top 100 List was MEDUZA’s “Tell It To My Heart,” featuring the dark and stormy vocals of Irish indie musician Hozier. Given Italian production trio MEDUZA’s excellent sonic vision and Hozier’s effortless songwriting, we’re not surprised at how well this deep house track did last year.
